Susan shares her stories with the technical expertise of her theatre training and the intuitive wisdom of a true storyteller. Jewish tales for adults and children include Midrash, folktales, Chasidic stories, , lifted off the page with insight and skill, and put back into true oral tradition, then woven together with her personal narratives-often poignant, thought-provoking, sometimes hilarious, always entertaining. She continues to perform every summer for YIVO Summer Festival of Yiddish Culture, as well as in museums, synagogues, schools and, most recently, in Warsaw and Lodz, Poland. ("Bringing the Stories Home: Jewish Tales From Poland"). Bringing her considerable experience to her community, Susan is the Founder/Co-director of the annual Evanston Public Library Storytelling Festival. For many years, Susan taught storytelling to teachers at National-Louis University, and still continues to offer workshops and in-service professional development. Many of her stories have been included in anthologies, and she has been honored with awards for her CDs of Jewish stories for children (Parents’ Choice Gold Award, Storytelling World Award, NAPPA Gold Award). Susan opens her heart when she tells a story, and opens the hearts of her listeners, too. A passionate performer for over 30 years, Susan’s tales entertain, enlighten and illuminate the human condition. School Library Journal declares, “she is an incredibly talented storyteller.”

"Susan Stone combines a remarkable talent for storytelling with a unique understanding of the audience, setting, and moments in which she shares her stories. Rather than telling stories TO people, she invites them into the story WITH her."
Rabbi Richard Hirsh
Former Executive Director, Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association
“In her hands, the tales, no matter how ancient, come hauntingly alive where every tale can be heard as if for the first time.”
Professor Howard Schwartz

If you're looking for a storyteller who will enrich the lives of your congregation, organization or group, look no further. Susan Stone is one of the most gifted storytellers I know. Her stories -- whether culled from the pages of Jewish tradition or from her own life--will touch your heart and inspire you.

We brought Susan into our community as the entertainment at our community wide fundraising event. She is an amazing storyteller. She was engaging, funny, warm, charming and delightful to have in our community. Her stories were just perfect and left everyone wanting to hear more. I highly recommend Susan and will bring her back for more engagements when I can.

"My husband and I saw Susan's performance first time at Salt Lake City Jewish community who had invited her to tell great Jewish stories right after the Shabbat service. What can I say... It was amazing! And when I saw Susan's performance, for all that moments, I just forgot that I was in this World. I really had travelled to the My-Grandma-World.... Awesome feeling... And I hope to feel it again really soon! Thank you Susan!"
